Civic Strides Opportunity

Family Pathfinders
Family Pathfinders was founded in 1997 with mission of strengthening the community by empowering families and individuals to attain self-sufficiency. We fulfill this idealistic mission with two programs that are unique in Tarrant County. Our Mentoring program matches trained, volunteer mentors with families struggling to overcome the bonds of poverty, homelessness and reentry after incarceration. Our Financial Capability program consists of two components, financial education and financial coaching. Financial Coaching is designed to support financial education, going beyond instruction to improve an individual's financial behavior.

Over the last 18 months we have more than doubled in staff size and budget as a result of new sources of funding. Our challenge is to manage that growth while retaining and strengthening our services and increasing our presence in the community

Description of Project and Deliverables: This project will focus on creating a marketing plan to increase the brand of Family Pathfinders. Our long history of mentoring is a great example. We must find ways to increase our identification with adult mentoring as well as financial coaching. Volunteer recruiting is a natural offspring of branding and a well-known brand would make our recruitment more effective. Additionally, a branding campaign will reach new donors.

We would like a new logo to use on all materials, press releases, and presentations to trade or volunteer groups in our efforts to increase general knowledge of Family Pathfinders. Pitching stories to newspapers and presenting ourselves as the authority in mentoring/coaching help get our name before the general public.

The end product will be a highly recognizable logo and associated agency name which is synonymous with mentoring and financial coaching. We recognize that this ultimate goal will take time but must begin.

Intended Impact: Our intended impact is increased branding and community awareness of our programs, services and successes. An integrated marketing plan will help recruit additional volunteers, reach new donors and promote awareness with our stakeholders.

Time Commitment: In order for Family Pathfinders to achieve the lofty goal of branding our agency, we will need the assistance of a seasoned individual for 40-60 hours. The initial time would be to learn about Family Pathfinders and to develop a marketing program to fit our agency, resources, and staff availability. After the initial period of programmatic development, a four hour block of time spent with the staff who is responsible for implementation (in person) and a four hour block of time for telephone consultation would seem adequate. This period may well need to run for four to six months.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate is someone who has developed and directed a successful marketing plan and has relevant graphic design/branding experience. Though not required, familiarity with or experience in the non-profit sector and similar size/budgeted organizations is strongly preferred.
